Dr. Oscar E. Streeter, Jr., Board Certified Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Oscar E. Streeter, Jr. is a board certified Radiation Oncologist and Certified Medical Acupuncturist.  He attended Medical School and completed his residency at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and then spent 18 years treating cancer and writing clinical trials at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California where he held positions as Associate Professor, Residency Program Director and Chief of the Radiation Oncology Department at LA County USC Medical Center and Chief of Service in Radiation Oncology at USC Norris Cancer Hospital.

In 2008, Dr. Streeter became Chair of Radiation Oncology and Professor at Howard University, in Washington, D.C., where he successfully revived their cancer treatment program.

In 2012, he was recruited to be the Founding Medical Director of the AIS Cancer Center at San Joaquin Community Hospital where he implemented state-of-the art image-guided technologies in radiation therapy to help more precisely target tumors and spare healthy tissues in order to reduce patient side effects.  As a result, the UC Davis Cancer Network chose his center to become a part of their program.

Dr. Streeter is currently serving on the voting board of the California Division of the American Cancer Society where he helps guide the ACS’s priorities for further research in the field of oncology.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (FACRO), where Fellowship must be initiated through peer physicians, and is limited to those physicians who have contributed “meritorious service to radiation oncology or medicine through education, research or service activities.” Since 2003, Dr. Streeter has been listed on the prestigious U.S. News & World Report, “Best Doctors in America.”  His membership in the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) Clinical Trial Group, a national clinical cooperative group funded by the National Cancer Institute to increase the survival and improve the quality of life of patients diagnosed with cancer, has spurred his interest in health disparities research.

Dr. Streeter specializes in hyperthermia treatment, an FDA approved heat treatment for cancer.  He is a published expert in both superficial and deep hyperthermia treatment combined with chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and currently serves as Medical Director at the Center For Thermal Oncology in Santa Monica where he customizes treatment plans for individual patients based on their history, diagnosis, stage and personal belief system.  He combines hyperthermia treatment, which is covered by most insurance (including Medicare) with state-of-the-art radiation therapy, integrative and Immunotherapies and both traditional and Fractionated Chemotherapy regimens.  Dr. Streeter routinely lectures on the benefits of hyperthermia treatment, and how the heat treatments stimulate an immune response.  The Center For Thermal Oncology, under his leadership, has become the preeminent hyperthermia treatment center in the United States and possibly the world, where they are initiating new clinical trials.
